There are risks with all surgery. However, your lipoma (if indeed that’s what it is) will not go away on its
own. Often they get larger with time. Risks are infrequent but exist. They include the most common
such as, bleeding, scarring, continued pain and on and on. I suggest you Google this and have an in
person consultation. While rare, virtually anything you can imagine can happen at the time of surgery.

Without seeing the scan, I doubt that this would require an overnight stay. Most surgery of this type isperformed as an outpatient and you may have sedation for your comfort. Without the benefit of anexam and lots more information I can not say anything further.

Based on this single photo, I would lean toward a chin implant instead of an osteotomy (cutting the chin bone). More photos and an exam would be helpful to more accurately come up with a treatment plan.

Incomplete removal is the most common cause of a reoccurrence. There can also be an adjacent lipoma that may have suddenly enlarged. Regardless, I would go back to the surgeon for another go at it.

You do not have to remove the chin implant to perform bimaxillary surgery. However, the current
profile of your face will likely change and you may not need the chin implant. Discuss this in detail with

Without a photo it is difficult to answer this question.
It’s possible that a crescent of skin can be removed from under the chin to minimize the sagging that you noted. It’s also possible that the chin pad itself may benefit from a lifting procedure so better photos and an in person exam would be the best way to determine the correct treatment.

It is normal to form scar tissue around any implant, whether it is a chin implant or breast implant. The scar tissue in some people can shrink over time and might be causing you discomfort. Typically this resolves with time, but the ultimate alternative would be to remove the implant.

It is best to wait after the pregnancy, and if breastfeeding to wait after that. If the lipoma is very bothersome, you could have it excised while breastfeeding and pump after the procedure.

Incomplete excision is the most common reason for the recurrence of a lipoma. It is possible that only the superficial layers of lipoma were removed, and that the lipoma is actually rooted deeper.

There are many factors that go into a physician’s recommendation. I would think that this could be removed with local and IV sedation rather than “general” anesthesia. Without seeing and feeling the area I cannot state if I would feel comfortable using local only. In the majority of cases I perform lipoma removal with local only.

This would be an outpatient procedure and would not require hospitalization. If it is rapidly growing, that implies a more active process that “could” be a liposarcoma. The only way to know is to remove it so that the lab can examine it.

That is a location where not only would you be more comfortable, but depending on the exact location there is a small nerve that traverses the area. The surgeon would appreciate a still patient to dissect out the nerve.
