Doctor’s answers

Question

Answer Snippet
What type of treatment would provide the best and long-lasting results on my jowls?
Extended deep plane facelift
May 4, 2021
At a minimum, you will need an extended deep plane facelift, and you may wish to combine with an ablative laser resurfacing or other procedures for best results. Seek out in-person consultation with an experienced specialist in facial plastic surgery. Good luck!
Would having upper and lower lid surgery help with bags/darkness under eyes?
Lower blepharoplasty
Apr 15, 2021
See a facial plastic surgery specialist to discuss transconjunctival lower lid blepharoplasty. Fat repositioning will help the contour irregularity that contributes to the dark circles. With this surgery, we move fat from the bags to the hollows under the bags to smooth the contour. Surgery won’t help the pigmentation component of the dark circles that is common with some ethnicities. Good luck!
I’m just wondering what kind of rhinoplasty I’d be a good candidate for?
Wrong question!
Apr 12, 2021
Hi! Rather than ask what kind of rhinoplasty, ask “Who should I consult with”. A great rhinoplasty surgeon will be well versed in all techniques and it is more important to determine what you like and don’t like about your nose, both in shape and in function. 3D imaging can be tremendously helpful in visualizing your goals. Seek a board-certified specialist in facial plastic surgery, and don’t be afraid to get a few consults before deciding who to go with. From the limited view, your nose…
Can my nose be fixed with filler?
soft triangle
Jan 8, 2021
That area is called the “soft triangle” and is a normal feature on all noses, It sometimes becomes more prominent after rhinoplasty in thin-skinned patients. This may be helped with injectible fillers in the proper hands. Go to a rhinoplasty specialist with lots of hands-on experience with fillers.
Would a liquid rhinoplasty work on me or do I need to consider going under the knife?
Wait for surgery
Jan 6, 2021
When your nose looks different from each 3/4 view, it is a sign of significant deviation of the nose. Fillers can be helpful to hide a hump or to soften irregularities, but not to correct a drooping or crooked nose. In the right hands, rhinoplasty recovery should not be that difficult! Don’t believe everything you read online. Go see a surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty for the best experience. Good luck!
Do I need buccal fat removal or just fillers to help contour my face more?
I don’t see the asymmetry in these photos
Dec 16, 2020
Some asymmetry is normal, and I don’t see anything in your face that suggests a distracting imbalance. I think artistically placed fillers may help your face be a bit more angular, and can help with minor asymmetries. Buccal fat removal may help your face now, but as you age may actually be a negative! Good luck!
Did I break my nose? I have a big hump on my bridge and a droopy tip. How much will it cost to fix?
Rhinoplasty
Nov 6, 2020
It really doesn’t matter if your nose was broken or not. If you don’t like the shape, fracture or not, you can fix your nose. The treatment will be the same no matter how you got there. Make sure to consult with a surgeon with a specialty in rhinoplasty for the best results!
Is it better to combine multiple procedures at once, or complete them gradually?
Doing the rhinoplasty separately makes sense to me
Nov 6, 2020
-Do the rhinoplasty on its own. Rhinoplasty requires focus and precision for best results. The facial rejuvenation procedures should be grouped together, as a harmonious facial rejuvenation should be addressed as a whole. It really doesn’t matter which you do first. Treat the area that bothers you most.
Saddle nose. Is there a non surgical procedure that will help the appearance?
Yes
Oct 23, 2020
Yes repair of a saddle nose is challenging, but possible. This usually requires using one of your own ribs for repair. If your nose is fairly solid, you may get some improvement with just an injectible filler for a temporary benefit. Good luck!
Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty and which approach (open or closed) is best for me?
sure, you would be a good rhinoplasty candidate
Sep 29, 2020
You may be a good candidate for either rhinoplasty or even an injectible rhinopasty. The best way to determine which would be best is a 3D computer simulation. Make sure you find a surgeon with expertise in both surgical and non-surgical options. As for the best approach, let your surgeon decide. Closed approach may work if there are no real changes to the tip needed.
Any suggestions are welcomed with for my lower blepharoplasty?
transconjunctival blepharoplasty
Sep 14, 2020
As long as your eyes are healthy, you should be an excellent candidate for a transconjunctival blepharoplasty with fat repositioning. This can be done under sedation in the office operating room. There is no external scar, and a week or so of bruising. Your surgeon would need to see you after the botox has worn off if possible. Good luck!
My nostrils/bottom of my nose is asymmetrical. How can I correct this?
we need more photos
Aug 26, 2020
The short answer is yes, revision surgery can help asymmetries, but we cannot tell you exactly which surgeries will be needed without an in-person exam. You may just need an alar base resection to improve nostril asymmetry, or a revision of your septorhinoplasty if the cause is a residual deviated septum.
Botox brow lift, thread brow lift, or surgical brow lift – How do I choose the right brow lift proc
none of the above!
Aug 18, 2020
Your brows are perfect! You really don’t need anything and certainly not anything surgical. If you want to try Botox, that’s fine, but go to an experienced injector to make sure it’s not overdone.
What is the best xanthelasma treatment currently available?
surgical excision
Aug 17, 2020
Surgery is the best solution for xanthelasma. This can usually be done under local anesthesia in the office. Eyelid skin heals extremely well. Unfortunately, this condition can recur over several years. If it does, excision can be repeated.
Permanent options for prominent nasolabial folds/sagging malar fat pads?
no surgery
Aug 7, 2020
Absolutely no surgery! If anything, a long lasting filler in the deep area next to your nose would help with balance. You have a normal, beautiful young face!
