Most patients are “socially presentable” 2-3 weeks after their facelift surgery. This is when the obvious swelling and bruising should subside. It is important to consider that incisions may still be obvious during this time and take time to heal/fade, however, if you have longer hair they are easily covered.

I tell my patients that typically after the age of 40, the best “bang for your buck” is surgery as fillers will no longer due the trick and often end up distorting your natural features. Congratulations on almost reaching your goal weight! While I hesitate to use the word *need* when it comes to cosmetic surgery, I do agree that if the excess skin is bothering you, a facelift with fat grafting is a great option for you. This is a common experience post-weight loss. The facelift will reposition the descending tissues and fat grafting goes hand-in-hand with this by restoring the volume lost as well.

A deep plane face lift would best suite you. In this surgery, the underlying tissues of the face are lifted and repositioned, and the skin gently re-drapes over top to avoid tension or a “pulled” look. Any excess skin is removed, as well as fatty tissue under the chin. Video linked below with a clear example. A meticulous surgical technique is essential although all incisions are well hidden within natural creases. You will have a great result.

Hi Sarah! You are a great candidate for fat grafting to restore the volume in your face. The goal of filler is to imitate fat, so this procedure is the gold standard for volume replacement and patients love the results. A common added benefit of fat grafting is glowing skin.

While nano-fat injections are aimed at improving skin quality or texture (“thickening the skin”), you typically would not see a noticeable change in overall volume unless performing regular fat grafting as well. The nano-fat is broken down and filtered different from regular fat grafting for volume.
