He received his Cosmetic Surgery, Facial Plastic Surgery and Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery training by studying in Paris, France with the world renowned Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Paul Tessier. In 2001 Dr. Tessier was named as one of the top ten plastic surgeons of the past century. Dr. Smith is a medical graduate of the University of Florida where he also completed his training in Maxillofacial Surgery and served as an intern in General Surgery at Shand’s Hospital. Dr. Smith has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and was Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (1986) which includes procedures of the body.

Dr. Smith has given numerous lectures nationally and internationally on the subject of Cosmetic Surgery and has held teaching appointments at the University of Florida, the University of Michigan and at Case Western Reserve University. He has published numerous scientific articles and has contributed chapters to textbooks on cosmetic surgery. He is an active student himself, frequently attending continuing medical education courses in the latest techniques in cosmetic surgery. He is actively involved in teaching postgraduate medical education. Dr. Smith is the Past President of the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, and is active in promoting patient safety in the outpatient surgery environment. He has been a representative to the Florida Board of Medicine for three years. Dr. Smith has held membership in numerous medical and surgical organizations such as the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Duval County Medical Society, American Association of Maxillofacial Surgery. Cosmetic surgical procedures are routinely performed in his fully equipped office surgical suite. He speaks English, French and Greek.
