Is it safe to have a hair transplant (lower the hairline by 1cm) a couple of days before a rhinoplasty
Is it safe to have a hair transplant a couple of days before rhinoplasty and buccal fact fat removal?

Hello Shya90,My suggestion is to make sure both physicians speak to one another to make sure there is concurrence between the two with the understanding of what would be required for post-op recovery from the hair restoration while overlapping and undergoing the requirements and events the second physician will need to expose you to to execute the facial plastic surgery.Although this can be done you must realize if any complications arise from either it will be a trying time for you to…

Hello Fierce105422,Your description of your type of hair loss raises concerns for further investigation before you can entertain having a hair transplant.Steps you should take:You must rule out medical causes of hair loss like (i.e.) lupus, lichen planopilaris , any form of scaring alopecia especially Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia in your description of your hair loss. This would likely require a small punch biopsy and some blood work ( iron deficiency anemia, thyroid workup,…
Is a second hair transplant more challenging due to scar tissue in the recipient area?
Is a second hair transplant more challenging due to scar tissue in recipient region

Hello Rutger24.There should be no additional risk in having a second or multiple hair restoration treatments attributed to “ scaring ” in the recipient region provided you do not have an undiagnosed medical condition affecting the integrity of your scalp and hair in the first place. If you do not have any medical conditions such as an autoimmune condition causing cicatricial alopecia ( scaring alopecia) and or you do not have a form of diffuse alopecia affecting the health of your donor hai…
Is Finasteride a must after a Hair Transplant?
Is finasteride a must after a hair transplant
Oct 26, 2020
Oct 26, 2020
Usually the use of Finasteride in men diagnosed with androgenic alopecia is recommended In men planning on having a transplant to either help minimize, stabilize or possibly reverse hair loss. The reason for this is statistically speaking most androgenic alopecia is progressive in nature and one is likely to go onto continue with hair loss over the years than not.Since The donor supply is limited in total supply ( and this supply typically ranges from as little as 3500-8000 grafts ) the use…
Does hair from beard as donor area grow back in the donor area ever again?
Impact of beard harvesting
Jun 15, 2020
Jun 15, 2020
Thanks for your questions Izik. Not all beards are created equally so of course a proper evaluation of the quality and density of a patient’s beard as a resource is important. If it is determined that enough beard hair can be harvested to make a meaningful change while being able to still maintain an acceptable not overly depleted appearance in the beard region then proceeding in this way is feasible.

Will a 2nd hair transplant mean I may lose hair from my first?
Hair Transplant #2 and shedding
Jun 15, 2020
Jun 15, 2020
Thanks for your question Derek. Generally speaking, hair that was previously transplanted should be more resilient than your native hairs and I would expect there to be less impact on those hairs with HT #2. If you still have native hairs within the area of treatment, those are more likely to be susceptible to shock and irritation form the surgery. In general whether it’s your first hair transplant or fourth, most people will experience a degree of…
Age 27, male. Should I stop Minoxidil 6 months before getting a hair transplant for more graft implant
Minoxidil Stoppage Prior To HT
Jun 15, 2020
Jun 15, 2020
I typically advise patients to halt use of minoxidil one day prior to the procedure. It is recommended to restart minoxidil about 7 days post-op and/or when the transplant scabbing has mainly cleared. If you are taking Finasteride this does not have to be stopped at anytime prior or after your procedure. Seeing your how your pattern is developing, continue use of minox and fin will be important in stabilizing your hair loss progression over time.
