Is smoking cigarettes really going to ruin a hair transplant?
smoking
Nov 23, 2021
Smoking CAN affect a hair transplant but does not necessarily mean it WILL ruin it. The nicotine in the cigarettes causes constriction of the blood flow throughout the body and can therefore affect the blood supply to the grafts. If you are young and otherwise healthy perhaps the nicotine did not affect the blood vessels enough to cause much of a problem. And who knows, perhaps the results would have been even better if you had not smoked? Be thankful it worked well despite the smoking. And…
Could vigorous rubbing 11 days post op have caused extensive graft damage?
Not likely
Nov 20, 2021
Although it must have been scary, I doubt the rigorous washing 11 days postop wold have done any damage to the grafts. Typically the grafts are secure by day 4 and although I wouldn’t advice being too aggressive, by 11 days postop the grafts are probably pretty safe. Hopefully it will turn out ok. Good luck!
8 month mark of a hair transplant. I don’t feel like it’s dense enough. How much more growth will
On the right track
Nov 17, 2021
It takes a full 12 months for the hair to grow after a transplant. You are only at 8 months and I have lots of nervous patients calling at 8 months asking the same question. You actually look right on track for 8 months (assuming there wasn’t much there to begin with) so try to be patient and have faith. It will not be as thick or as full as your native hair behind the transplant but it will definately be thicker than the current density. I know it can be difficult as I have had the…
FUE – Was this actually 2500 grafts?
Does not look like 2500 grafts
Nov 17, 2021
I never talk bad about other doctors, but to answer your question, in my opinion there does not appear to be 2500 grafts placed in the frontal hairline area. Perhaps they performed 2500 FUE punches to the donor site; perhaps half were not viable or good quality follicles, and perhaps they only placed the 1000 or so that were viable but it does not look like 2500 grafts are placed in that small area in the frontal hairline.
6 months post-op hair transplant – how much more growth am I expected to receive?
Still only 6 months
Nov 17, 2021
This can be a very slow and nervous process; I know as I have done the procedure myself as well. It takes a full 12 months for the hair to fully grow in and for some even a little longer. So, you have only gotten half way and most of the hair growth occurs in the 2nd half so you have lots of time for growth. Unfortunately, the hair growth is not uniform and consistent. It grows in inconsistent and patchy which can be frustrating. Have faith and patience and you will have much better results…
