Wide nose with large hanging ala, what are my options?
Thick nasal skin
Dec 15, 2017
Klaufis, it appears from the pictures that you have very thick nasal skin. It can be difficult to achieve the desired definition and narrowness of the tip in patients with thick skin. However, in most cases significant improvement can be made. You should consult an experienced board certified facial plastic surgeon for an in-person evaluation. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
If I'm okay with the tip of my nose, can I just get the bridge fixed?
Removing a hump without changing the tip
Dec 15, 2017
Gigiandcami, yes you improve the asymmetry of your nose and remove the bony hump without changing the tip or the length of your nose. It would help to see pictures of your nose before commenting on raising the tip. That said, I agree if you like the position of the tip of your nose, why change it? The price of your procedure could be less than a more extensive procedure. I would need to examine your nasal structure and stability before determining a price. ...
Upper bleph. Swelling and asymmetry 4 weeks post op - is it normal?
Upper bleph swelling and asymmetry at 4 weeks post op
Dec 13, 2017
Vins2015, it appears that you do have swelling and very mild asymmetry. This is not abnormal at 4 weeks post-op, as it can take months for all of this to resolve. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
Infected or allergy around incision after facelift? 3 weeks post-op.
Slow healing face lift areas
Dec 13, 2017
It is difficult to tell from these pictures, but it appears you may have two issues. It appears that the dark areas could be scabbing from necrosis of the skin in those areas. This should slowly heal over time. To improve healing, these areas should be kept covered with ointment. However, it appears you could have a second problem as evidenced by the red discoloration behind the ears. This appears to be an allergic reaction to the ointment...
Facelift and brow lift together. If there was one thing you would tell your patients regarding t
Face Lift & Brow Lift combo procedure QA
Dec 13, 2017
Imslj12, congratulations on your upcoming procedure! I find that a brow lift in combination with a face lift can be one of the most rejuvenating procedures for the aging face. Vision is not typically affected by a brow lift procedure. The one thing I tell my patients who have a brow lift is they can have a headache the first evening until the wrap comes off. Normal recovery is 1 - 2 weeks for a majority of swelling to subside. Best wishes, Dr....
How long to wait for Facelift after PDO threads?
Waiting time between procedures
Dec 12, 2017
GB82, it is typically okay to perform a facelift once the swelling and inflammation from PDO placement has resolved. This could be as early as 1 - 2 months after placement of the threads depending on the patient. Evaulation by a trained face lift surgeon in person should be completed before undergoing a face lift procedure. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
Staples behind the ear (facelift)?
Staples in incisions
Dec 12, 2017
Janejaney doe, staples are usually used in incisions that are in hair-bearing areas of the face or head because sutures may be difficult to place because of the hair. Properly placed staples should not lead to a more noticeable scar in these areas. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
I have one hooded and one “normal” eye, should I get eyelid surgery or Botox over my eyebrow to
Lazy eye concerns
Dec 12, 2017
Norahsque, I am assuming it is the left eye that is bothering you because this is where I see the issue. The condition I see is called blepharoptosis as demonstrated by the upper eyelid margin touching the pupil, and an absent left upper eyelid crease. This is most likely caused by disinsertion of the levator palpebrae superiorus muscle. This muscle elevates the upper eyelid. When the tendon becomes separated from the eyelid margin, the eyelid is unable to raise...
I'm scared that my nose isn’t changing after my rhinoplasty, when will I start to see an improve
Gradual changes
Dec 12, 2017
Karismaaaa, changes in the nose post-operatively after Rhinoplasty are gradual. Although it can take a year or more for all of the swelling to subside, the majority of the swelling typically resolves in the first few months after surgery. With that being said it is important to be patient as the changes can be gradual or subtle, and because one is looking at their nose every day, it may be difficult to appreciate these gradual changes. It is important for a patient to...
Can I get a nose job if I have a small scar/cut on the bridge of my nose?
Rhino with a scar
Dec 12, 2017
Gigiandcami, a scar on the nose does not disqualify you from having a Rhinoplasty procedure. As long as the scar is mature and soft it should not pose a problem. Sometimes the scar can be adhesed to the deeper structures of the nose, and if this is found during surgery, these adhesions can be released during the procedure. Be sure & see an experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon in person before making a decision. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
Planning rhinoplasty: is this a risk regardless of the surgeon?
Look for experience
Dec 12, 2017
Justatweek, Rhinoplasty is a very difficult cosmetic medical procedure to perform, and as is the case with any cosmetic surgery, complications and/or an unsatisfactory appearance after cosmetic Rhinoplasty can occur. For instance, a deviated septum that is not surgically repaired correctly can cause the nose to be crooked after cosmetic Rhinoplasty. Therefore it is important to choose a Rhinoplasty surgeon who is not only experienced in cosmetic changes, but also...
Do you have to keep your nostrils clean of any dry blood after rhinoplasty?
Post surgery Rhinoplasty cleaning
Nov 28, 2017
Platypus23, after Rhinoplasty surgery I thoroughly clean any dry blood from the nostrils and inside the nose with hydrogen peroxide soaked q-tips. I also clean any tape residue or blood gently with a medical tape removal product that I have in the medical center. I feel like it is best to clean all crusts out of the nostrils as this lessens the chance of infection and does not affect healing. You should contact your surgeon to ask how you should proceed yourself with...
Lower eyelid surgery to help with eye bags and hollowing?
Less can be more
Nov 28, 2017
Zezette, what I see from your picture is hypertrophic orbicularis oculi muscles that are causing the fullness under your eyes when you smile. If a skin pinch was not originally done, this may give you some improvement. Sometimes, the hypertrophic muscle can be partially removed. However, this can result in lid position problems, and it is probably best to leave the muscle alone. Sometimes less is more. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
Did I spoil my rhinoplasty after laughing strongly yesterday on 4th day after rhinoplasty? (phot
Laughing 4 days post Rhinoplasty
Aug 31, 2017
Most likely you did not do any damage to your nose by laughing. Maximum swelling after surgery is typically in the 3 - 4 day period so that may be why you are noticing more swelling of your tip. However, you should call your surgeon to make an appointment to look at your nose to be safe. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
When do external alarplasty scars heal?
Alarplasty scarring
Aug 31, 2017
Jessi0104...because of the oily nature of the nasal skin in that area it can take longer for the scars to settle down (and they may be bumpy) until the scars have matured. However, because of the oily nature of the skin in this area, if the incisions are placed appropriately, they usually heal with minimal evidence of scarring. Best wishes, Dr. Roberts
