Thin hair for last few years & noticed a wide part, am I losing my hair?
Am I losing my hair?
Dec 17, 2023
Yes, this would represent hair loss. The cause would appear androgenetic but other issues must also be properly ruled out with a good history and good examination. Be sure to see a specialist who understands hair loss.
Should I be concerned about lack of results 6 months after hair transplant?
No growth after 6 months
Dec 3, 2023
It’s a bit concerning but still possible that things are simply delayed. I think you said it best that your prior surgery experience is somewhat of a template for how your second surgery should go. There are many reasons for poor hair growth post transplant. You mentioned your surgeon who seems quite experienced but there are many patient factors that are not discussed here. Subtle scarring alopecias or autoimmune scalp issues developing after surgery do occur and some people find that C…
38, female, receding hairline – how do I get my hairline back?
hairline changes
Nov 24, 2023
You’ll want to review your entire story with an expert. An up cllose examination is essential here so be sure to actually visit a specialist so that a trichoscopy examination can be done. Issues like androgenetic alopecia, telogen effluvium (or both) need to be ruled out. If you dye your hair then excessive loss from these chemicals needs to be at least considered by an expert. All women with hair loss need blood tests so there is no exception here. The actual tests you’ll need depend on you…
Have you seen good success with body hair to scalp transplants?
Body hair transplants
Nov 20, 2023
Body hair transplants can work reasonably well but they do not have as much of a dramatic “wow” effect as when using scalp hair. I would like to point out that the skill of the surgeon removing the grafts really matters. Survival of grafts is really really dependant on the skill of the surgeon. A good surgeon can get these grafts out reasonably well with 40-70 % survival (sometimes more). A novice body FUE surgeon will achieve much lower survival. Body Hair FUE can be much more difficult tha…
I have regrowth but it’s very thin – AGA or TE recovery?
TE or AGA
Nov 14, 2023
There is one way and only one way to fully and confidently answer this question and that is with a proper review of the patient’s story and an up close examination of the scalp (including trichoscopy). You are omitting one other option and that is both AGA and TE being present. Please be sure to see an expert. AGA with TE is most likely in a situation like this but by no means definite.
21 years old, losing around 150-200 hairs a day – Is AGA progressing?
Is this AGA?
Nov 7, 2023
Not possible to say with these photod, no. ato properly diagnose hair loss one needs the full story and the opportunity to see the scalp up close. It’s impossible with these photos. The answer lies in trichoscopy. So see an expert in the evaluation of hair loss for a proper up close examination. One can have TE and AGA (both) as well as just TE as well as just AGA. Of course other conditions can be present too.
Is my donor area too thin for hair transplant?
Is my donor area too thin?
Nov 7, 2023
The donor are at present would likely meet an acceptable cut off. However the full answer always depends on a variety of factors including patient age and relative speed of loss and if other comorbid scalp conditions are present. All treatments for AGA are lifelong and so it’s a big decision as to what else you can use. It would not just be a short term usage to help the donor area and then stop at the time of surgery. It would be lifelong use. You should be sure to speak to an expert a…
