Smoking and Hair Transplant-Dr. Alan Feller-Great Neck, NY

It doesn’t sound like you did anything wrong. One cigarette a day is not going to cause any problem. The blood supply to the scalp is tremendous. The atoll means nothing. Of course, you shouldn’t smoke at all, but you know that already. Nothing can bring dead cells back to life. But I don’t think you are dealing with any from what you wrote. Don’t stress out so much, follicles are tough ! Grow well.
Would an FUT hair transplant be better than an FUE hair transplant for first timers?
FUT or FUE Hair Transplant-Dr. Alan Feller-Great Neck, NY
Feb 23, 2016
True. FUT is better than FUE period. The reason for this is that FUE subjects grafts to greater trauma thereby reducing their chances of growth compared to FUT. But I don’t agree that FUE should be used to try and cover up a good FUT scar.
8000 grafts in 10 hours and through strip surgery is it possible?
8000 grafts and Hair Transplant-Dr. Alan Feller-Great Neck, NY
Feb 23, 2016
8000 grafts is certainly possible, but not likely. It is a rare donor area that can supply that great amount. Most likely you are confusing hairs for grafts. Just a guess. Post your photos here on Real Self and maybe we can give you at least some of idea of what you received.
I am in my seventh day post op, does this look normal/ok, and also why is my head still very stiff?
7 days after Hair Transplant-Dr. Alan Feller-Great Neck, NY

That's a bit long to have such heavy scabbing. I can also see that your skin is contracting leaving those fissures that look like cracks. That allows the scabs to bunch together and look worse. But that doesn't mean there is any problem with the transplants. My guess is that you, like so many, are afraid to clean the recipient area. I tell my patients to begin on the third day post op. Start putting shampoo and water on the area to allow the scabs to soften then using the pads of…
Is my hair growth normal? I’m 3 weeks post hair transplant
3 Weeks post op after Hair Transplant- Dr. Alan Feller -Great Neck, New York
Feb 22, 2016
Oh yes, that sounds quite normal. And from what I can see in your photo (which will not enlarge for me for some reason) all looks good. As always, typical disclaimer, see your HT doctor if you are concerned. He may know something we don’t. Grow well.

Unfortunately for you it’s not so cut and dry that you can get a real answer on here. I know that’ not what you want to read, but there it is. You should visit a local HT doctor and have him look at your donor area and assess your probably future loss. From there come up with a realistic strategy. Then update us on Real Self.
Normal hair density and dense packing?
Density Count and Hair Transplant- Dr. Alan Feller -Great Neck, New York
Feb 22, 2016
Be careful here. It’s not the same for everyone. And more importantly, the more doesn’t necessarily mean the better. As a GENERAL rule I like to make my transplants on the hairline at about 40 to 60 grafts per cm2 depending on hair caliber and graft availability. Sometimes a touch more. In the area behind that I like to keep it around 40 grafts per cm2 with allowance for some variation. Can I do more? Almost always. Should I do more? Almost never. Going beyond this point results in…
