If was evaluated at ~9000 FUT grafts, what’s the best estimation for total number of FUE grafts?
Total Donor Capacity
Nov 6, 2018
Nov 6, 2018
Graft numbers are very deceiving. A graft is a piece of skin. We could theoretically take an unlimited number of pieces skin from the scalp. The smaller pieces we take the more grafts there will be. However, the goal in hair restoration surgery isn’t getting grafts (pieces of skin), it is to get hairs for coverage. Therefore, we should estimate total donor capacity in number of hairs, not grafts. This requires a live examination calculating donor density, skin laxity, surface area etc….

Norwood Hair Loss Classification
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
The Norwood classification at a given time isn’t as important as many people think for the following reasons:
1. It doesn’t take into consideration the progression of hair loss, so if we are to use this classification, we should try to guess what class the hair loss is going to progress to. For example, a 20-year-old seemingly Norwood 3 patient may actually be progressing to a Norwood 6-7, thus the surgical planning should be done considering the class that will eventually occur.

8 months post op HT, is the amount of grafts I see now what I am going to have more or less?
Growth At 8 Months Postsurgery
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
The range of growth you could see at this month in our experience is 30-90%. As you can see this is a large range. There are slow and fast growers, so I recommend waiting a full 12 months before drawing any conclusions.
Everything has healed, except an open wound… Help needed! I had the transplant 17 days ago. (P
Necrosis At Recipient Area
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
It looks like you have skin necrosis at the recipient area. This is a rare complication unless you are a heavy smoker or you have uncontrolled diabetes. The most frequent cause is too deep/large/densely performed recipient incisions that impairs local blood supply. It is see more frequently when unlicensed technicians do surgery instead of a doctor. It is probably going to eventually heal on its own without requiring a treatment. The result is going to be a scar with lack of hair growth in…
Can I have a hair transplant to restore hairline and thinning crown whilst keeping my dreadlocks
Dreadlocks
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
A live examination is required for a conclusive evaluation, however, that frontal region and crown looks like it would be better to treat the thinning using medication and not surgery. There seems to be a significant amount of thinning hairs that could be thickened via medical treatment using minoxidil and/or finasteride, while avoiding surgery which could damage the existing hairs and make it even worse. Transplanting the hairline could be done as there is nothing to shave. The FUT (strip)…
Will FUE leave noticeable scars when removing grafts from hairline & pushing it back?
Pluggy Graft Removal From Hairline Using FUE
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
Although theoretically FUE wounds heal with scars, these scars are very difficult to detect and are usually well tolerated. In your situation, if the hairline design isn’t too low and the angles of these transplanted hairs aren’t too wrong, then a practical decision could be made by just filling in from the existing line to cover up this area. The goal would be to avoid FUE scars at the hairline, avoid the graft wastage that may occur while removing these grafts and reduce surgical…
Can I get hair transplant on my upper lip (moustache)?
Moustache Transplant
Jun 22, 2018
Jun 22, 2018
Yes, you can!
An FUE or FUT (strip) technique could be used to harvest donor hairs from the back of your head and transplanted onto your beard region. An interesting possibility would be to do long-hair FUT to harvest grafts with long hairs and add density to the moustache without shaving anything and adding density without any surgical area being visible after the procedure.
