In my experience, almost all saline implants placed in a subglandular position (on top of the pectoralis muscle) will show some degree of rippling, in the upper pole and the lower lateral breasts, depending on the patient position. While it is difficult to assess the quality of your skin with just a photo, it appears that you would be a good candidate for a verticle mastopexy with areolar reduction. Thank you for your question.  Following a mommy makeover most people can return to normal work functions after seven to ten days.  However, you may still have drains that will need to be dealt with.  We tell all of our patients that the full recovery will take approximately three months.  We discourage cosmetic surgical tourism if the patient is not going to remain in the area for at least two weeks post-operatively.

Thank you for your question.  We usually recommend a six week waiting time before returning to vigorous activity, or the use of hot tubs, saunas, etc.  This is only true however, if there have been no complications such as the wound coming apart or excessive drainage.  Your surgeon is the best person to check with as he/she knows how you are healing.

Thank you for your question. 80% of the swelling after tummy tuck and liposuction resolves in the first three weeks with the remaining 20% resolving within three months.  You don't say where you are in your post operative process so it is hard for me to know if it is normal swelling or not.  Please consult your board certified plastic surgeon for an individualized assessment of the problem.

Thank you for your question.  Getting yourself cleaned out before your procedure will allow your surgeon to perform a tighter closure and give you a better result.  It also helps that you won't be straining to have a bowel movement the first couple of days after surgery.  After surgery, increased fluid intake and walking will generally get your bowels back to regularity.

Thank you for your question.  It appears from your photos that you have a fairly nice result but the lateral pockets were either made too big or the implant dissected the tissues and allow the implants to fall lateral when you lay down or recline.  If the deformity is too severe, open repair of the lateral pocket will probably be the only viable remedy.

Thank you for your question. All blood thinners can cause bleeding complications after surgery.  In tummy tucks this can result in hematomas that may require re-operation.  Please discuss your use of blood thinners with your operating surgeon at least ten days prior to your operation.

Thanks for your question. I do not recommend ice or heat to the abdomen, as the dissection often causes a decrease in sensibility and the skin can be damaged.  Ice to the breast can help with swelling the first couple of days after surgery but at this point is unnecessary.

Thank you for your question.  Usually drains are removed when the daily drainage drops below 30cc's per day, however, each surgeon has his own opinion of when to pull the drains.  We like to get our drains out as soon as possible to lower the chance of infection. I would recommend having someone take your left drain out as soon as possible.

Thank you for your question.  The majority of swelling due to your procedures should have resolved in the first couple of months.  A small proportion of swelling may take up to three months to resolve.  Bloating and constipation, however, is a separate issue.  Pain medication such as narcotics can slow the gut and cause constipation and bloating, but so can a host of other factors.  Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids and walking as much as possible.  If this persist for anoth...

Thank you for your question.  We usually limit the activity of our breast lift and tummy tuck patients until approximately six weeks after surgery, at which time full exercise is usually tolerated.  Individual cases may vary and we strongly suggest that you follow the advice of your plastic surgeon.
