Do I need another upper eyelid surgery? Or what would you recommend to fix this?
Eyelid asymmetry
Jul 21, 2021
Thank you for your questions. Your pictures highlight the intricacies of obtaining symmetry between both eyelids. On the pictures it appears that your lid creases (the fold on your eyelids) are at slightly different heights. This could be as a result of your original ptosis, or the healing process. You also have a slightly lower eyebrow, which further compounds the asymmetry. I would recommend seeking consultation with an oculofacial plastic surgeon who would be able to address both of these…
Thin skin under brow bone/puffy eyelids?
Puffy upper eyelids
Feb 16, 2021
Hello, and thank you for your question. There are many reasons why someone could have puffiness under the brows. One of the most common reasons is drooping of the brow (brow ptosis). Looking at your pictures, however, it appears that your upper eyelid puffiness is related to an enlarged fat compartment. This is called prominent preaponeurotic fat, and it is something that can be addressed during an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. I encourage you to schedule a consultation with a board-certified…
Would I benefit from any type of eye surgery for eye shape and other issues?
Upper eyelid heaviness/puffiness
Feb 6, 2021
Thank you for your question, and for including good quality pictures. It appears to me that you have some prominent preaponeurotic fat in your upper eyelids. This is a fat compartments that naturally rests in front of the lifter muscle of your eyelids. In some people, this fat compartment can enlarge and produce a heavy, puffy eyelid appearance. This can be corrected during an upper eyelid blepharoplasty. The fat, as well as any redundant skin and muscle can be excised to provide a thinner…
Should I get a brow lift or Blepharoplasty for my low nose bridge?
Brow lift
Feb 6, 2021
Thank you for your question. The relationship between a low eyebrow and heavy eyelids is an intricate one. Looking at your pictures I would agree that a brow lift would be the best procedure in your case to reduce your eyelid heaviness.
Lower blepharoplasty or should I go for filler first? To see how it could look
Lower eyelid blepharoplasty
Oct 20, 2020
Thank you for your question and for the pictures. My suggestion would be to consider removing the excess fat, followed by skin resurfacing with a CO2 laser. Fat repositioning or fat transfer from elsewhere to the lower eyelids is often unpredictable, and can lead to asymmetry or hard areas under your eyelids. In looking at your pictures, I also notice some descent of your mid face, which further accentuates your lower eyelid “bags”, and deepens the crease between your eyelids and your che…
Would I be a good candidate for a possible Blepharoplasty?
Lid crease position
Oct 20, 2020
Hello, and thank you for your question and picture. You are correct in noticing that there is a little asymmetry in your eyelids. It is not related to ptosis, though, at least as far as I can tell from your photograph. What is most striking to me is that the lid crease (the fold in your eyelids) is different between your eyes. This is really common, and can be corrected with a small surgery. Correcting the lid crease height will make it so that both of your eyelids have the same amount of…
Would I be a candidate for lower blepharoplasty for excess fat under my lower eyelid?
Surgery is not always the best solution
Aug 18, 2020
Thank you for your question, as it helps illustrate an important point. There are a number of different reasons for someone to have puffiness in their lower lid. You are correct that a common cause for this is herniated or prolapsing fat from the orbit (eye socket). In your case, though, the puffiness is likely related to the orbicularis muscle around your eyes contracting when you smile and causing a small roll in your lower lids. The best approach to correct this is to administer a small…
