Statement: Dr. John S. Lee is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 22 years of experience. He performs a variety of face- and body-focused plastic surgery procedures, including facelifts, neck lifts, tummy tucks, eyelid surgery, breast augmentation, breast lift surgery, liposuction, mommy makeover surgery, rhinoplasty, and arm lifts.

Known for his keen aesthetic eye and advanced techniques, Dr. Lee emphasizes the importance of natural-looking results in every surgery, from facelifts (tightening the deeper layers of the face to avoid a “windswept” look) to breast augmentation. Dr. Lee also performs eyelift (blepharoplasty) procedures without leaving external or visible scars or changing the shape of the eyes.

Dr. Lee received his medical and dental degrees from Columbia University in New York City. After graduation, he trained in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Lee went on to complete residencies in general surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, and plastic surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. He has been in solo practice in Portland, Oregon, since 1999.

Dr. Lee is an active member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Is it normal to still have steri strip on incision of a mini TT 3 weeks post OP? Can it be beneficial?
Steri-strips post-operatively
Mar 7, 2019
Hello,Often times, steri-strips are left in place for several days and sometimes weeks after a tummy tuck to help aid in the incisional healing process due to the location (higher tension in this area). It is normal at our practice to keep the steri-strips on a tummy tuck incision for approximately 3-weeks, sometimes a bit longer (as long as there is no reaction to the tape or glue, i.e. rash, itchiness, etc.). If you are still concerned that the strips have not fallen off, I would cont...
Do I have symmastia after my revision breast lift?
Symmastia
Mar 7, 2019
Hello,I am sorry you are unhappy with your results, but the good news is you do not appear to have symmastia and what you are seeing is your cleavage. If you are still concerned, please speak with your plastic surgeon. All the best,Dr. Lee
Will my breasts be more lifted if I have my lift redone?
Revision Surgery
Mar 7, 2019
Hello,Based on your photographs, it seems to me your doctor is making the correct decision. By tightening the breast pocket around the implants, the implants will not fall out to your side. Also, by taking out a small amount of skin (or wedge) vertically, the breasts will be slightly lifted making the areolas/nipples more centralized. Finally, your scars should heal about the same after surgery, but usually not worse. All the best,Dr. Lee
Is it counterproductive to add a layer of aquaphor over biocorneum on a breast lift scar?
Silicone Scar Treatment
Mar 7, 2019
Hello,It seems counterproductive to apply a layer of aquaphor over the Biocorneum. The topical silicone scar treatment should be all you need beginning approximately 3 weeks after your surgery, once your incisions are well healed. All the best,Dr. Lee
Would I benefit from an upper blepharoplasty? I feel like I have a lot of excess skin on my eyelid
Difficult to Determine
Mar 7, 2019
Hello,Based on the provided photograph and angle it was taken, it is difficult to determine if you have excess skin or if that is your natural crease/fold. If you truly feel like you have excess skin, I would recommend meeting with a plastic surgeon in person for a proper exam. All the best,Dr. Lee
5 weeks post op, went dancing/drinking with a friend now breasts sore after night out. Is this normal?
Normal based on activity
Dec 21, 2016
Hi there. It seems like you definitely overdid it for your first time out since surgery, and your body is letting you know that you did too much. The soreness should get better, however, if you have any specific questions or concerns, I recommend speaking with your PS.
Should I get fillers or a facelift?
Facelift
Oct 27, 2016
Congratulations on your weight loss! What an accomplishment! Based on your photographs, it appears you would benefit from a facelift with fat injections to your cheeks. Fillers would not be enough to correct the sagging skin, however, they are a nice addition to incorporate after a facelift. Hope this helps!
Which do I need Tummy tuck w/Lipo, or just the Lipo or just tummy tuck?
Tummy Tuck with Liposuction
Oct 27, 2016
Hi there! Based on your photographs, it looks like you would be a good candidate for a tummy tuck (upper and lower) with liposuction of the flanks for contouring. If you currently don't have stretch marks on your abdomen, it is unlikely you will get them after surgery as long as you maintain a stable weight. Please contact a plastic surgeon for a consultation to ensure you are a candidate for this surgery. Good luck!
Working out.
Working Out and Side Sleeping
Oct 27, 2016
Hi there! We typically recommend that our breast augmentation patients wait 4 weeks after surgery to resume exercising. Usually by week 3, patients can start very light exercises as they make the transition to week 4. Also, we tell our patients they can sleep on their side if it is comfortable after 4 weeks, preferably wearing a bra. Please check with your doctor as post-op instructions can vary greatly among plastic surgeons.
Is it possible to just have liposuction on my lower abdomen?
Liposuction vs Tummy Tuck
Oct 11, 2016
Hi there! It is possible to just have liposuction on your lower tummy, however, it will most likely not give you the results you are looking for; in fact, it may make the overhang worse. It might be worth considering a tummy tuck if the overhang really bothers you. Best wishes!
Calling RN's! Recovery time post lift + augmentation?
RN to RN
Oct 11, 2016
Hi there! I am an RN for Dr. Lee and have had a breast augmentation and previously worked in the OR. I would definitely take approximately two weeks off if you are involved with patient transfers/lifting and then have your co-workers help you out for another week when you return. We recommend patients do not lift anything over 10 lbs for 3-weeks and 25 lbs for 3-months. You can resume all normal activity at one month including exercise. I hope this helps :)
What happened? 16 months post op of successful BA.
Capsular Contracture and Your Options
Oct 11, 2016
It seems you have developed capsular contracture which can occur anytime after a breast augmentation and it is difficult to know which patients will develop it. Sometimes at the first sign of tightening around the implant, aggressive massage and prescriptive medication can help. However, often times the implant and capsule have to be removed and a new implant placed. Beginning massage early post-operatively is imperative and should be done on-going. Also, your surgeon may put you on sho...
Will my 400cc implants look bigger as time goes by?
Implant Size
Oct 11, 2016
I am sorry to hear you are unhappy with your results. Your implants will not look bigger as time goes by, but will settle into the breast pockets in the next 3-6 months which will change the shape/look of them. Your surgeon most likely used an implant that was safe for you and matched your measurements. If you are still concerned after 3-6 months, speak with your PS, in the meantime, give yourself time to heal. Good luck!
Can I do a facelift with fillers or will I look older? I'm told I look young for my age
Filler Candidate
Sep 22, 2016
You definitely do not need a facelift; you are much too young. Fillers would be a good option for you, specifically Voluma in your cheek area. I would recommend visiting a PS or Nurse Injector to talk about your filler options. Good luck!
Bruising still present at 14 days post op. Is it normal?
Bruising seems normal
Sep 22, 2016
Bruising can often take weeks to dissipate and resolve. Arnica Montana sublingual tablets as well as the topical gel can help speed up the process, but ultimately it will just take time. If you are still concerned, I would recommend speaking with your PS. Take care!
