Can I use Voluma a month after Sculptra if i decide I do not want to use Sculptra anymore?
Voluma After Sculptra
Sep 15, 2014
Sculptra is a great product but you have hit on one of the downsides, which is that it takes time. For someone that wants to see a difference now, Voluma would be a good choice. Now as to your question regarding whether to wait, don’t bother. One vial of Sculptra is not enough to see any difference at all except perhaps in the temple.
TRANSCONJUNTIVAL MIDFACE LIFT: is it the technique that grants best results? What are the risks?
Risk of Transconjunctival Midface Lift
Sep 11, 2014
Published studies regarding this procedure for rejuvenation of the midface and lower eyelid have shown this to have the lowest satisfaction and highest complication rates. The best results and lowest risk were in the group that had a midface lift and fat grafting. Lower eye lift also had poorer outcomes and worse patient satisfaction. There are surgeons that perform Transconjunctival Midface Lift and get beautiful results but there are many very bad complications…

Facelift Surgery and Weight Loss
Sep 7, 2014
This is a very common question. Patients are genuinely worried that if they have a significant change in weight, the results of their lift will be effected. We all know that the face changes with weight loss. This does not change after a facelift. Losing weight will still be noticeable. The good news is that it will not be a dramatically change. It is important, however, to find a surgeon who feels comfortable and confidant performing surgery on someone…

Grid Pattern After Laser
Sep 5, 2014
The cause of a grid pattern after CO2 laser is overlap between one area and the next. The lines are places that essentially received twice the laser energy as the skin next to it. You need to be on topical treatment to minimize the appearance of the grid (sunscreen, steroid and skin lightener) If you are fortunate, this will disappear with time.
Can a skin only facelift ever be equal to a SMAS lift?
Is There Any Benefit to a Skin Only Facelift
Sep 5, 2014
Historically, the first facelift procedures were skin only. They were straightforward, recovery was short…… and they didn’t work. Without being too technical, the issue is: skin that is put under tension responds by making new skin (think of a pregnant woman’s abdomen). With a facelift, it is possible to pull the skin very tight and have the results look good for a short period of time but there will always be relaxation. Further complicating this issue, is that most…

Dealing with Facelift Complications
Sep 5, 2014
The hardest part of a complication after a facelift is the time frame. The very best thing to do at 2 months is wait and do nothing invasive. Time will improve some things and in time it will be evident what really needs to be corrected surgically. My recommendation is to start non-invasive treatment such as topical cremes like collagenase, daily use of a good sunscreen and ultrasound therapy to address the scarring under the surface. The good news is that most…
Can a Facelift correct this droopy mouth and marionette lines? I have lots of sag and volume loss
Facelift For Correction of Marionette Lines and Drooping Around the Mouth
Aug 26, 2014
It is fairly common for people to come in for a facelift evaluation with their main concern being marionette lines and jowling. Often, this is a result of bone loss along the mandible. Your pictures suggest lack of projection in the jaw and chin as a component of your aesthetic problem. Be prepared for some discussion of augmentation of this area (implant, filler). A facelift will give a nice correction but you have significant midface sagging. Make sure that…
My left ear is blocked after face lift. Is this normal?
Probably Dried Blood or a Cotton Ball
Aug 26, 2014
The two most common reasons for this to happen is blood getting into the ear canal during the surgery or forgetting to remove the cotton ball. Either way, a trip to your surgeon will fix it. Most importantly, it’s nothing serious.
Weight loss and waiting for Facelift.
Should You Postpone a Facelift in Anticipation of Weight Loss
Aug 25, 2014
The short answer is no. It makes little difference in the long term results of the surgery. There are a few caveats however. The first is that getting a great facelift result is harder in heavy patients. A standard facelift is done to address sagging and wrinkling; two things that people with heavy faces do not have. A facelift in someone with a heavy face is about changing volume. The techniques for each lift are similar but not identical. Done poorly,…
I have a ridge/line near jaw after MACS facelift. Any suggestions?
Some Contour Irregularity Immediately After Facelift is Normal
Aug 25, 2014
Plastic surgeons know that patients want to look great immediately. This has led to the development of less invasive procedures. The MACS lift is one of these. While faster recovery is nice, the downside is that temporary contour deformities are more likely. This is such a common issue with the MACS lift that the authors specifically discuss it in their textbook. Correction is time and massage.
Nasolabial folds – I want a more permanent solution, maybe stem cell lift?
Midface Lift and Fat Grafting are Good Long Term Solutions
Aug 24, 2014
For the person with a nice jawline and minimal laxity in the neck but who still has significant flattening of the cheeks, a midface lift and/or fat grafting can have nice results. In order to determine whether these options make sense, consult with a surgeon that has significant experience in both of these procedures. The most difficult road block I come across is that frequently the issues that you describe are in very thin patients and it is difficult to obtain the quantity of…
Is a mid face lift or cheek lift even worth it?
Midface Lift: What is it and what does it accomplish?
Aug 24, 2014
A midface lift is a surgical procedure which addresses hollowing around the eyes, the prominence of the nasolabial folds and the fullness of the jowls. An easy way to think of it is to imagine it as the upper half of a facelift. The procedure can be done traditionally with an incision running along the temporal hairline or endoscopically. Because the procedure addresses only aging changes in the upper face, it is not ideal for most patients. There are several technical…

Itching After Facelift
Jul 29, 2014
Itching is a normal part of the healing response. It usually goes away on its own but there are definitely things that make it better or worse. The incisions should be kept moist until they are healed. At 2 weeks, they should be healed and you can stop the ointment. You may try Benadryl creme or 1% hydrocortisone to relieve the itching. If the incision is not healed, you should make an appointment with your surgeon to determine what is wrong. Yeast infection along the…

Repairs Can be Scheduled within One Week in the Twin Cities
Jul 28, 2014
Because the procedure is done under local anesthesia in the clinic, it can typically be scheduled with little lead time, sometimes even the same day. Make sure that you let the plastic surgery office know that this is your desire when you phone to make the appointment. #earloberepair
Minnesota Neck Lift or Neck Lipo Recommendation?
Neck Lift in Minnesota
Oct 28, 2012
There are several great surgeons in the Twin Cities that do this surgery. The best place to start is to come in for a free consultation and then ask for a list of physicians for a second opinion. Once you have two or three, the decision will make itself.
