When Things Happen After a Surgery, Don’t Forget Why You Chose Your Surgeon
Jan 16, 2018
I’m sorry to hear this happened to you.  While no one expects anything untoward happening following surgery this is one of the things that can occur.  It is important at a time like this to remember why you chose your surgeon.  You must have had a feeling of confidence in his or her ability to take good care of you.  Don’t forget why you chose them in the first place.  Keep in close contact.  Trust their recommendations.  They are in the best position to get you to a good outcome.  Good luck.
Partial facelift or fillers? I’m a 61 year old male, had consultation with two surgeons regardi
Fillers Would Help But Not Significantly, a Facelift or Neck Lift Would Work Well and Last Many Years
Jan 16, 2018
First of all, the answer depends on what kind of results you’re looking for.  I would agree that it is unlikely that filler injections are going to make a significant difference for you.  One of the things that makes men look masculine is a strong jawline.  Fillers are not going to help significantly with the sagging you have around your jawline.  A neck lift or a facelift would be a good option and these typically lasts for many years.  Both of these lifts involve lifting the muscle and …
Why swelling after the facelifting surgery? 4 days post-op.
Swelling For 4 Days After a Facelift Certainly Can Be Normal
Jan 16, 2018
Continued swelling for 4 days after a facelift is normal.  There are some people that swell more and some less.  Some people will have most of their swelling done by 2 days and some people will continue to swell for close to a week.  At this point it’s nothing to worry about but it’s never a bad idea to call your surgeon’s office to be sure. Good luck.
Do I have a polly beak nose deformity? I just had a minor nose touch up two weeks ago.
Nothing To Be Worried About at This Point In Time
Jan 16, 2018
Patience.  Patience.  Patience. I do see what you are concerned about but there is absolutely no way to tell at this point whether there is anything to really be concerned about at all.  Your procedure was 2 weeks ago.  It takes time for the swelling to resolve.  My best suggestion, which Is always hard to do, is to quit looking at your nose for the next 6-8 weeks.  It will continue to change noticeably over that period of time.  There still will be swelling in another 2 months but at that…
What is the best way to add projection to a nose that was reprojected in rhinoplasty? Patient h
Look Fo ra Surgeon Whose Results You Like and Let Them Pick the Best Technique
Jan 16, 2018
In all honesty there are a variety of methods to do this and there is probably no absolute best way.  There are many very experienced, very good rhinoplasty surgeons that would approach this problem using different techniques. Your question is a good one.  Having thin skin does make it more likely that you could see what was done to add projection to the tip.  Because of this, no matter what is done you have to be very careful to do things carefully, camouflage them well, and have smoo…
What does recovery time on revision rhinoplasty for the tip look like?
It Is Likely That Recovery From a Revision Rhinoplasty Would be Quick However You May Not Need One
Jan 16, 2018
The answer to your question depends on how long ago you had your rhinoplasty.  If it’s been less than a year, there is likely still some swelling and things will change as the swelling resolves completely.  Importantly, swelling is oftentimes asymmetric.  This means that sometimes asymmetries that are seen during the first 6 months to a year may actually be due to asymmetric swelling and may resolve simply as time goes on. Please be patient.  If it has been longer than a year, it is likely…
I have a misshapen tip! I need a revision surgery. How can this be fixed?
Revision Rhinoplasty Surgery is Difficult But Can Achieve Great Results
Jan 16, 2018
While it certainly would be possible to get more symmetry to the tip of your nose the biggest difficulty likely lies with the thickness of your skin. When a rhinoplasty is done, the underlying bone and cartilage are reshaped and then the skin lays over the top.  The thicker your skin, the less you can see the changes made in the underlying bone and cartilage.  You should make an appointment with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who does computer imaging as a part of their preoperative ev…

Reduction of a Bulbous Tip is Definitely a Possibility
Jan 16, 2018
High.  I do think your expectations are reasonable.  This is not the easiest kind of a rhinoplasty to perform, But is something that could be accomplished.  Look for an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon in your area who also has experience with this kind of rhinoplasty.  Computer imaging done before the surgery would be helpful to give you an idea of what he or she thinks could be accomplished. Also looking at pictures of real patient’s to see what kinds of results they’ve been able to get p…
How can I get my nose hump to disappear because that really bothers me.
A Rhinoplasty Would Help With the Hump
Jan 11, 2018
If the hump is what bothers you, it is a relatively easy thing to take care of during a rhinoplasty.  Meet with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon in your area who does computer imaging as a part of their preoperative evaluation so that they can show you what things would look like if the hump was removed. Good luck.
When is it safe to tweeze in-between my eyebrows after rhinoplasty?
You Should Be Able to Tweeze After a Rhinoplasty as Soon as the Cast Comes Off
Jan 11, 2018
There should be no issues tweezing after a rhinoplasty anytime after your cast has been removed.  Individual surgeons may have different opinions about this so I would call your surgeon’s office to make sure that this is okay with them.  In general though this should not be a problem.
Do I have pollybeak deformity?
The Mid-portion of Your Nose is Taller Than the Tip
Jan 11, 2018
I do not think that your nose is too short.  I also hope that you’re not too sad about this.  Your issues are subtle but it is true that the height of the dorsum of your nose is a little bit taller than ideal, compared to the height of the tip of the nose. For people that have had a rhinoplasty previously we do call this a polly beak deformity which simply describes a nose where the mid-portion is taller than the tip. This could be corrected fairly easily and simply by making the mid-porti…
Why would pointy nose tip (bossa) suddenly whiten/worsen? 15 years post op primary and 4 months
The Change In Your Nasal Tip Could Be Related to the Filler
Jan 11, 2018
The only thing of concern in what you described is related to your filler injection 4 months ago.  You certainly can get decreased blood flow secondary to the filler.  This usually happens immediately after the filler is placed and would be very unusual to have developed 4 months later.  Given this possibility however I would call your injector and have them take a look at you. There is almost no chance that the cartilage itself has grown. Good luck.
Sneezing after surgery?
Sneezing After a Rhinoplasty Won’t Cause Problems but Will be Messy
Oct 9, 2017
Sneezing a few days after a rhinoplasty will not cause any problems, but will be messy.  Just make sure and have people get out of the way.  People commonly talk about trying to sneeze with your mouth open but this is oftentimes impossible. Let it happen.  Don’t worry about it.  You can clean the excess blood gently from around the nostrils using a Q-tip and some hydrogen peroxide.Good luck.

All Surgeons Are Capable Of Reducing Turbinates During a Rhinoplasty- Not All do it Routinely
Oct 9, 2017
All rhinoplasty surgeon’s are certainly capable of doing a turbinate reduction.  It all depends on the experience of the particular surgeon.  Do your research.  This should be a part of your questions during your consultation. Some rhinoplasty surgeons, no matter what their training, do turbinate reductions routinely as a part of their rhinoplasty procedures.  Others, do very little.  If breathing is a part of your issue and you know you need to have your turbinates reduced, make sure an…
What could be causing a runny nose 10 months post-op rhinoplasty?
Lots of Possibilities for Drainage After a Rhinoplasty-
Oct 9, 2017
There are a long list of possibilities for the drainage.  Given that it comes from both sides it’s very unlikely that it is CSF.  Given the foul odor, infection is a likely possibility.  A sinus infection commonly doesn’t respond to 1 or 2 courses of antibiotics and therefore the fact that you’ve taken antibiotics doesn’t rule out sinusitis.  It’s likely that the drainage and congestion are related.  Given the long list of possibilities you should make an appointment to see an ear nose and t…
