The “benefit” of post facelift swelling is that the skin looks very smooth. Unfortunately, once ALL of the swelling subsides, typically after several months, some of the wrinkles return, though not to the same severity as before surgery. Other than that, there is no other benefit. You can’t make swelling go away more quickly aside from keeping your head elevated above the level of your heart when you sleep. Most of the swelling after a rhinoplasty resolves within 10 to 14 days after surgery. With rhinoplasty procedures, some small amount of swelling may persist over the nasal tip in particular, for up to 9 to 12 months after the procedure. This can all be addressed during the first year after surgery, which is why it is so important for patients to return to their surgeon for the follow up visits.

Fraxel Repair vs Dermabrasion to complement Neck Lift?

I commonly perform Fraxel repair treatments with minilifts, Necklifts and the two combined. Dermabrasion is largely out of favor these days. Fraxel repair will improve mouth lines but will not completely eliminate them, particularly the deeper ones.
It also has a lower incidence of complications than dermabrasion or fully ablative CO2 Laser resurfacing. It is also a painless recovery.

I would say that a ptotic lacrimal gland is not that common and is not a typical feature that is corrected in upper blepharoplasty. When it is present, however, it is not difficult for the surgeon to tuck the gland under the boney rim of the eye socket while doing an upper blepharoplasty. Facial plastic surgeons, plastic surgeons and oculoplastic surgeons can all perform this procedure.

It's hard to tell if your skin is thick except by examining it and feeling the thickness. If your skin is thick, then a reduction rhinoplasty where cartilage is removed to refine the nose may not work because the skin will not redrape as well. For thicker skinned people, you need augment the nose and bridge to make it appear more narrow and refined. This is counterintuitive but is the only technique that works with thick skinned noses.

Having performed over 1,000 Fraxel restore treatments, many of which included treating stretch marks, acne scars, burns scars and other skin problems in need of collagen remodeling, I can attest that a series (at least 5) of Fraxel restore treatments will improve but nor cure stretch marks in the majority of people.
As a rule of thumb I tell patients that they can expect a 50-75% imrpovement in stretch marks after completing a series, with the understanding that there is no guarantee....

In approximately 25% of my MACS lift patients, I perform a concomitant Fraxel repair treatment. The two procedures complement each other as the MACS lift changes facial volume and shape but does nothing to improve inherent skin quality, while the repair only improves skin and does little to lift or truly tighten. The surgeon's experience is paramount, though, as the repair laser settings need to be changed over the lifted skin flap to ensure proper healing postoperatively. When done...
