What’s your recommended under eye filler and placement method?
Depends!
Feb 14, 2019
In my opinion, this varies for every patient. I make a determination by feeling for the amount of tissue that you have overlying the area, as well as how much projection/volume that I feel you will need. I only use dissolvable HA fillers in this area, and absolutely recommend against any permanent filler in this highly difficult area. Make sure that you find a provider that treats this area often, and preferably one with advanced surgical knowledge in this area, as the anatomy is co…
Does one syringe per cheek of Voluma generally produce noticeable results?
Depends!
Feb 14, 2019
If I am trying to enhance the cheek bones, I usually use around 1cc per side. This works for 95% of my patients. Rarely, I will use more. As with any filler, less is usually more in my opinion. However, different patients/doctors have different goals. It is important to have a very open and honest discussion before having the procedure done to ensure that your expectations are appropriately aligned with what can be achieved. A final point – it’s always easier to add then it is to take a…
Stubborn jowl lines are back post-lower lift, do I need filler?
Lifitng is only a part of the best total solution
Feb 13, 2019
Your surgical procedure seems to have significantly improved the things that surgery can fix. However, surgery is only a part of the total solution. In nearly every case, the best results are obtained from a combination of lifting AND the addition of volume. There is still ongoing maintenance after a facelift to keep things looking their absolute best. The good news is that you have already taken the harder part of the journey!Hope this helps!dr. silver
What if your facelift scar isn’t loose enough for a revision?
consider another opinion
Jan 21, 2019
My first question to you would be which doctor told you this? Was it your original surgeon? Was it a doctor who isn’t a plastic surgeon? How was the healing process from you original surgery? Did some of the skin die, or did your scar just widen over time? There is way more information needed than what has been provided. I would think that you would have some laxity over that time period, but there can obviously be exceptions.  I would recommend going and seeing a couple of plastic sur…
Should you massage your breast after an augment and lift? My doctor said no at my appt today but i
listen to your surgeon!
Jan 21, 2019
I would absolutely recommend that you listen to your surgeon! They have your best interests in mind!Implant massage is not an agreed upon thing among plastic surgeons. Each surgeon makes their own post-operative instructions.Since you trusted the surgeon enough to have them do your surgery, you should definitely not abandon that trust for the opinions of others on the internet!!!! hope that helps!dr. silver
Can surgery fix my deep wrinkles after having face/neck lift?
ask your surgeon!
Jan 21, 2019
The short answer to this question is it depends….In general, surgery fixes skin QUANTITIY, not skin QUALITY.However, if you have bunching due to excess skin, this may be able to be addressed by a brow lift. Otherwise, this is likely a skin QUALITY issue, and as such, surgery would not be the right choice. I would recommend going back to your surgeon and having an open and honest conversation about what is bothering you.
Are drains recommended after a lower face/neck lift?
a detail not worth stressing over!
Jan 21, 2019
Hi Jellyb – In my opinion, there are many details worth considering, and many details that you should spend zero time stressing out about. To drain/not to drain should be one of the details that you should spend zero time on. This is surgeon preference, and not all surgical procedures are the same. Find a physician you trust and go with what they say!!!Hope this helps!!dr. silver
Any recommendation for lower face procedure for me?
this depends…
Jan 21, 2019
There is a lot to talk about before you do anything else…Which type of filler, and how much do you already have in your chin? When was this done? Potentially, you could have a chin implant, but potentially doing nothing would also be an option. If you were my patient, I would want you to look at before and after photos of others with chin implants to see if this is the change that you are looking for. I do NOT think you are ready for a facelift. Go see a board certified (and check by wh…
Is 45 too soon for a facelift?
this is up to you!
Jan 21, 2019
An important consideration about surgery is that no one should guarantee you a certain result….Having said that, “too soon” is more dependent on you. You need to have things that can reasonably be expected to be improved by surgery, which you do.You then have to be physically (healthy enough), mentally, and financially ready for the procedure as well. You are the best person to answer these questions. While a surgeon can help guide you, it is ultimately your decision. If you have al of …
Can I join the military 2 or 3 months after otoplasty?
should be ok
Jan 21, 2019
In general, I would allow my patients to go back to strenuous activity 3 weeks after an otoplasty. I still ask them to be careful with their ears however. 2-3 months should be a long enough time for recovery, but you should clarify this with the surgeon that you have chosen, Hope this helps!dr.silver
Does flexing the muscles that move or wiggle your ears put otoplasty results at risk postoperative
wiggle away!
Jan 21, 2019
It is highly unlikely that wiggling your ears will cause any significant problem. You may not be as able to wiggle them as you did before surgery, but this also is not something to worry about. As always, follow your surgeons’ instructions! They know you much better than anyone on this site!
I have a sensitive spot at the back of the ear? What is it? How do I get it removed? Will the cond
looks like a suture
Jan 21, 2019
Hello moemuni,This looks like a suture. It is very common to use a permanent suture when performing an otoplasty. The skin is also very thin in this area, which increases the likelihood of being able to see and feel a suture as you seem to be doing. The good news is that this suture can usually be removed in the office. I would recommend returning to your surgeon so they can help you. dr. silver
Are there options to consider that are short of another facelift?
yes there are!
Jan 21, 2019
The short answer is that there are always “options”However, the important part to understand is that every option has a potential benefit, as well as a potential tradeoff. Understanding all of the tools available to use and knowing how/when to use them in concordance with your goals is the most important factor in deciding what to do next. There are way too many options to simply answer your question here. I would recommend an in person consultation with a board certified surgeon that …
What can I do to rebuild my facial muscles and nerves after a facelift?
be seen in person!
Oct 4, 2018
I’m sorry to hear about what has happened to  you. However, it would be best to be seen in person, in order to try to pinpoint what is going on and what your potential options are.  I would encourage you to see a board certified plastic surgeon.
Droopy eyelid. Is this fixable?
yes!
Oct 4, 2018
Yes, this can be fixed. What you have is called ptosis. It is important for you to follow up with your eye doctor to make sure that there is no other cause of the ptosis that may be missed. After making sure that you simply have ptosis without an underlying cause, then the correction is a minor procedure that can be done in the office. Hope this helps!dr. silver
