What do you recommend to fix my badly crooked nose?
Straightening crooked nose
Feb 21, 2021
Hi Kimberly, thanks for your question. Short answer is YES, your nose can be made straighter with rhinoplasty. This is done as an outpatient procedure, takes about 2-3 hrs. Cost will depend on what else might need to be done at the same time, such as refining the tip or improving breathing. Good luck with your search!

Sincerely,
Tom D. Wang, MD - Director

Would I be a good candidate for just a tip rhinoplasty?
May 12, 2020
Hi there, thanks for your question and photos.  You appear to be an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty which can help refine your nasal tip.  You may wish to consider slight lowering of the nasal bridge at the same time in order to improve the overall balance of your nose.  That can be discussed with your facial plastic surgeon during your consultation.  Best of luck to you!

Hi Haley, thanks for your question and photo.  Yes, you appear to be an excellent candidate for reduction rhinoplasty. Please consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon and review modified photos of your nose with your surgeon to ensure it is what you are looking for.  Best of luck to you!
Why does straighting the nose is not always possible?
Why does straighting the nose is not always possible?
Dec 16, 2019
Hi Robert, thanks for your question, it's a good one. The main reasons that it is not usually possible to straighten a crooked nose are due to the underlying bone and cartilage not being straight, due to injury or other causes. This make it hard, if not impossible, to create the outside appearance of straightness. The other factor is the external skin envelope is likely also asymmetrical and that has the effect of "shifting" the entire framework back towards the previous deviation. This is r...

Jul 5, 2019
Hi kaijukristin, thank you for your question and sharing your photo.  It may be possible to further narrow the bridge of your nose by moving the nasal bones in closer.  In order to not affect the height of the bridge, you may need to have slight augmentation with some cartilage or other material to maintain the dorsal position.  Please discuss this thoroughly with your surgeon in advance so you are comfortable with the treatment options.  Best of luck to you!

I'm not satisfied with the simulation for rhinoplasty.
Jul 5, 2019
Hi there, thanks for your question and photos.  It is important to let your surgeon know your expectations.  If you are not happy with simulation, please do let your surgeon know.  These are only simulations, not the final result.  Hopefully, working together with your surgeon and your input, a more satisfactory simulation may be created.  Alternatively, it may be better to seek another opinion and explore other options.  You may also wish to consider mentoplasty to help better balance...

Hi angeladouglasmarie, thank you for your question and photos.  It is somewhat difficult to determine the proportions of your nose from the photos.  Please be sure to consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon for your rhinoplasty and view some simulated photos to ensure you'll be pleased with the post operative outcome.  Best of luck to you.

Hi Happyemoji, thanks for your question and sharing your photos.  Corrective rhinoplasty often requires the use of cartilage grafts to help support and create balance for the nose.  These cartilage grafts may be taken from within the nasal septum or perhaps from elsewhere, such as the ear or rib, if necessary.  This is quite common and routine.  Please make sure to consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon for your rhinoplasty and view some simulated pictures to ensure you will be ...

Hi misselysianfields, You do have a very strong and over-projected nose.  Your photos show that you would be a good candidate for reduction rhinoplasty to decrease the overall size of the bridge and tip and create better proportion of your nose to your face.  Please consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon and view simulated photos to help you determine the appearance of the nose you'd like.  Best of luck to you!

Shorter nose?
Jul 5, 2019
Hi ellieknox, thanks for your question and sharing your photos.  You are a good candidate for corrective rhinoplasty to straighten the bridge of your nose in both the front and side views, along with reduction of nasal tip projection to create better proportion of your nose with your face.  Please consult with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon and view some simulation photos to help you obtain the result you want.  Best of luck to you!

Could I have a closed rhino or will a nose filler look good with my nose?
Jul 5, 2019
Hi alexiades1, thanks for your question and sharing your photos.  While you may benefit from fillers, this will require periodic repeat treatments to maintain effect.  A reduction rhinoplasty, either open or closed, should be able to help you achieve what your are looking for on a more permanent basis.  Good luck to you!

Am I okay to use breathe right strips 5 months post op (rhinoplasty)?

Hi Bananas89, thanks for your question.  Yes, you should be able to use these strips as needed.  However, I'd suggest speaking with your surgeon regarding when you may expect to have normal breathing return as a cosmetic procedure shouldn't negatively affect nasal air flow.  Hope this is helpful!

Hi Daisy1884, thank you for your question and photos.  Sorry to hear about the mis-adventures you've gone through up to now.  The excess skin under your neck can be best addressed with a lower face/neck lift procedure.  This is typically done as an out-patient or day-surgery with a 2-week recovery.  Please be sure to view your prospective surgeon's portfolio to confirm the expected outcome will match your expectations and good luck to you!

Will I be ok to go home after lower face lift with platysmaplasty?
Mar 9, 2019
Hi there, the short answer is "yes," you should be able to have this procedure as an out-patient, meaning you may go home the same day after the surgery.  This will depend of course a bit on how quickly you recover from the anesthetic and your general health status.  In our practice, ALL of our lower face/neck lift patients are able to go home following their procedures.  It can be very helpful to have someone (friend, relative or care taker) stay with you for the first day or two after you...

Hi there, thank you for your question and photos.  While it is certainly a bit disconcerting to have some visible pleats after your surgery, it will all settle down over time and smooth out.  You should of course check in with your surgeon regarding the expected course of healing to receive further reassurance on the resolution of these pleats.
