Which breast enhancement placement and type is best for a woman that is a Powerlifter and bodybuild
Implants in body-builders
Aug 30, 2019
You have glandular ptosis which is more efficiently addressed with subglandular placement which is also advisable if you are adverse to the distortions that subpectoral placement causes. Other considerations that might influence technique is the size and shape goals of your final breast which will be a compilation of your natural breast and the implants that helps achieve that goal. Careful discussion with your surgeon will help you select the most appropriate implant. But remember that …
Can you have a flap surgery at a later date if you choose immediate reconstruction with implant?
Delayed flap reconstruction after implant
Jan 28, 2018
My advice to patients undergoing mastectomy who don’t want to go through life without a breast but can’t decide on final method of reconstruction, or who faces possibility of contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, is to place either an implant or expander as a “spacer”. There are many advantages, the most important of which is preservation of breast skin. Loss of skin diminishes the quality of future reconstruction.
How long does a facelift usually take?
Facelift
Dec 27, 2017
While a facelift sounds like a “standard” procedure, it is not. It is a generic description that may encompass a variety of separate manuveurs or steps. There are even many variations on each of these components. As such, what may be referred to as a “facelift” may vary considerably in operating time from an hour or 2 to up to 6 to 8 hours. Your surgeon may customize your “facelift” more if there is a concern about total operating time. Robin T.W. Yuan, M.D.
I had a BA 1 year ago and had a revision surgery at 6 months post-op for bottoming out, both by now
Bottoming out
Nov 21, 2017
The term ‘bottoming out’ referrs specifically to the inferior or downward displacement of the implants so there is a discrepancy between the position of the implant and the position of the nipple areolar complex or the position of the natural breast inframammary fold. There can be many causes of this. But there can be an appearance of  ‘bottoming out’ without the displacement of the implant and this is caused by using an implant which diameter is mismatched to the natural breast. Looking at …
Will I be able to reach symmetry with how my boobs are?
Asymmetric breasts
Sep 8, 2017
With such disparity you will often need a combination reduction-augmentation-mastopexy on the larger side and an augmentation on the smaller. The best approach would be to try and achieve symmetry before augmentation and then try to use an identical implant on each side. This may not be possible but as close as one can come to this, the better the symmetry.Robin T.W. Yuan, M.D.
Is it possible to achieve a TT scar as low as my current c-section scar for best concealment? (Phot
Tummy tuck scar
Sep 7, 2017
Only an examination can determine how low the scar can be placed. Often unless there is significant laxity of skin above the belly button, a compromise has to be made as to the position of the scar or the addition of another scar to close the belly button hole. Also, the C-section scar has a tendency to migrate upwards due to the tension in hte closure.Robin T.W. Yuan, M.D.
Is it okay for to get implants when I have very small breasts/not a lot of extra tissue to work wit
Thin patient and breast implants
Aug 1, 2017
The paradox with breast augmentation is that the thinner and smaller patients often are the most motivated to have augmentation but are the least appropriate for larger sizes. The most natural-looking breasts augmentation are achieved by hiding the implants behind natural breast tissue with a higher percentage of breast comprised of natural tissue. With a small amount of breast tissue, you should use as small volume and as low a profile style as possible that fits your breast dimensions. …
I had an MRI which showed my breast implant ruptured, will I be refused an implant replacement due
Ruptured implant and weight gain
Aug 1, 2017
Weight, while a possible factor in the use of breast implants in breast enhancement, is not an absolute factor. Each patient should be evaluated individually for their anatomy, goals, and risks. The size, style, and reason for the implant may be different than when you first had the surgery 27 years ago. And your goals might have changed as well. Have a frank and thorough discussion with your plastic surgeon about your options.
2 VERY QUALIFIED DR’s and I can’t choose which one to book surgery with.
Choosing doctors
Jul 22, 2017
You just answered your own question and no one else can answer this question for you. If you feel equal and positive about each, it doesn’t matter. I assume they are recommending the same procedures. New technology vs. old school is not a valid contest. I have written about how to choose a plastic surgeon and one of the suggestions is to go with whom you feel is more qualified or with whom you have better rapport if something goes wrong. You are saying that both can give you good results…
How to fix my droopy face?
Fix a droopy face
Jul 22, 2017
In my book on cosmetic surgery, I write about answering such a question. No, it is not a technical answer. It is about the meaning behind the question. First, “fix” implies something is broken or not right or, perhaps, not normal. Second, what are you interpreting as “droopy” and how does that relate to anatomy? Although it sounds trivial to nitpick such an obvious and common question, but I spend a lot of time dissecting this type of question because it directly relates to what you end up d…
How long does it take to go from consultation to getting procedure done?
Consultation process
Apr 1, 2017
The consultation process varies from practice to practice according to the doctor’s philosophy. Some doctors try to book a surgery and close the deal quickly. Others require patients to fully educate themselves over time. It is not so much about time, but about coming to as complete an understanding about the risk and benefits and options as possible for each individual. I call this the “meeting of the minds”. I require at least two office visits before making any decisions or…
What is the difference between silicone smooth or textured?
Textured vs smooth silicone gel implants
Mar 30, 2017
The least risk of capsular contracture occurs with submuscular implants. Going from smooth to textured will not significantly reduce this. If you are using roud implants as suggested with the consideration of smooth iplants, then textured round implants undeer the muscle do not add any protection against capsular contracture long term.
Do I need a reverse abdominoplasty?
Reverse abdominoplasty
Mar 30, 2017
In actuality, a reverse abdominoplasty in conjunction with a panniculectomy is the most anatomical procedure in patients who have redundancy following pregnancy. The soft tissues stretch centrifugally from the umbilicus or belly button. But in your current situation it appears that your residual redundancy is inferiorly, not at the upper abdomen. You can extend the scars laterally and reduce the “dog ear” or excess fullness at the ends of the scars.
I am currently looking to have breast augmentation but where do I start? How many doctors should I
Breast augmentation
Mar 18, 2017
First off, get back to a healthy and stable weight since your breast willl change, especially after pregnancy and after any breast feeding period. Second, don’t get stuck on the size or style of implant since this is not directly related to a post-op result. Each patient has a different implant requirement to achieve a particular end result. Third, ask your obstetrician for a referral. Every woman will eventually see her Ob-Gyn doctor after surgery so they often know who does good work and t…
Facial trauma. Two Fractures. Sunken eye. 2 months in. Can this be helped?
Facial fracture
Mar 18, 2017
You possibly have a tripod fracure with fracture of the orbital floor. Displaced facial fractures are generally best repaired within the first few hour of injury before significant swelling occurs but when the bones are more easily mobilized. After that, once the swelling subsides, surgery should be done before bones heal in a fixed displaced position. You should see a plasic surgeon specializing in craniomaxillofacial surgery since your injury has already healed in improper position.
