Good question! I have been injecting Restylane in the tear trough (under-eye area) for years with great results. Restylane provides a natural result and is often injected using a cannula technique which can decrease the risk of swelling/bruising. It is important you’re treatment is performed by someone with experience in injecting the tear trough, as this is a delicate area of the face.

Thank you for submitting your question. With the injection
being 2-3 weeks ago, there is no contraindication to activity that far out
after fillers. It usually takes fillers, including Voluma approximately 3-5

Hey VividlyGeneric,
Unlike some of the other fillers that are for adding volume to the lip, Volbella is a dermal filler indicated for the fine lines of the upper lip. Volbella provides a natural result, and since it comes in a .5 cc syringe unlike the 1.0 syringes of other products, it’s perfect for just a small amount of softening in the “smoker lines”.

After any injection using Dermal Fillers, it is normal to have swelling, and bruising is always a possibility. Typically bruising will last about a week, if darker in color, it could be longer. Fillers can take up to 2 weeks to meld in with the injectable area and not feel so foreign. If you have any concerns be sure to consult with your physician. Hope this helps!

With Voluma what can happen if I do not wait the 24 hours before exercise?

Hi mrseternaldancer. I would encourage you to wait the 24 hours after any filler including Voluma injections. Exercise increases the heart rate which could lead to bruising.  If you cannot avoid this because of your job, I would recommend you take something like Arnica Montana capsules prior to your injection to help decrease the risk of bruising.

Great question annemh016. Yes, you can absolutely use another filler. Vobella is typically used in the upper lip lines and gives a gentle inflation to the upper lip lines and or upper lip. Using something like Juvederm Ultra or Restylane will give more structure and fullness to the lip itself. Thanks for the question and best of luck.

After facelift surgery it is not unusual to experience swelling and the occasional lump, which gradually resolve over time. Helpful strategies in the postoperative period include sleeping elevated, wearing a cheek/ neck strap, warm/ cold packs and gentle massage. It is important to relay concerns to your surgeon and have patience.

Thanks for the question danielerusek. Yes, you can absolutely inject two syringes of Juvederm Ultra at the same time. You could also try Juverdem Ultra Plus which is a thicker product and may give you the look you want with just one syringe. If you were a new patient to fillers I might advise starting out with one syringe, depending on your lip anatomy, and reevaluate in 2-3 weeks. But since you’ve had filler to the lips and know what to expect, there should be no problem.

Anytime an injection is done, there is a risk of bruising.
This is why I suggest patients discontinue blood thinning medications or
supplements about 2 weeks before the injection. Arnica is also something that
can be taken prior to, and/or post-injection to help alleviate bruising and
swelling. Unfortunately bruising cannot be predicted, but there are things that
may help prevent it. Hope this helps for future injections!

Juvederm XC
is a great choice for some volume to the lips. Unlike Juvederm XC, which is for
adding volume, and structure. Volbella is more of a treatment for fine lines of
the upper lip. According to the manufacturer, the longevity of both products is
about a year. Keep in mind areas around the mouth may metabolize the product at
a faster rate due to constant motion. Glad to hear you have had some lasting

Thanks for the photo sm92. I believe that you may be a good candidate for filler to address the hollowness you’re seeing under your eyes. I would recommend Restylane to the area because it doesn’t fluctuate with water retention as with some other fillers . As always, consult with your physician and be sure to see a qualified facial plastic or plastic surgeon. The under eye area can be tricky and requires someone with a lot of experience.
