Fat transfer to the lips is commonly performed, and often successful. Unfortunately, if not done perfectly, the result can be an “overfilling” of the lips, and even possibly a lumpy character. Hyaluronic acid fillers allow your plastic surgeon to be much more precise as it is a much more consistent material, however it is of course not permanent. Many would argue that fat transfer is also not permanent, so they are not much different in that regard. My preference is always to use filler…
