Will my nose become more slim over time? 16 days post rhinoplasty.
Healing after rhinoplasty
Jun 29, 2018
Swelling after rhinoplasty dose take a year or longer to resolve.  The swelling will appear as if your nose is wider/fatter and less defined than you want it to be.  The thicker the skin, the longer it takes for the nose swelling to go away.  It is a process that takes time, however you should try to focus on enjoying the improvements that you already have and let nature take its course.
Will it be hard to show facial expression after endoscopic forehead lift?
Endoscopic Forehead Lift
Jun 29, 2018
Long-term the endoscopic forehead lift should not change your facial expression.  The procedure does raise your brows to a more elevated position, so yes that will change. However, the muscle motion should be the same as before once the swelling is resolved if the muscles are not cut during the procedure.
1 week from deep plane face lift and forehead lift and I am swelling like an monster. Advice?
Healing After Facelift Surgery
Jun 29, 2018
While the healing time from a Deep Plane Facelift is not necessarily longer than a lateral SMAS facelift, most people have about 2 to 3 weeks of social down time. This also depends on what other procedures are done along with the facelift.  Most people look amazing at 6 weeks and mostly healed within 3 months. There are ways to expedite the resolution of swelling such as steroid doses and some remedies such as Arnica and Bromelain/Quercetin. Lymphatic drainage can also be beneficial. Speak t...
Is there a non-invasive brow lift procedure available that isn't the Botox option?
Non-Surgical Browlift Options
Jun 28, 2018
Surgery always gives the most effective/impressive lifting results. However, there are a few non-surgical options. We have had great success with Ulthera of the brows to give a subtle lift.  This takes a few months to see the final results, but is quick, easy and relatively a less costly option.  We have seen the results last for over 2 years.  Fillers can also be placed along the brow to give a subtle lift. This must be done by a very experienced injector. Finally, Bo...
What are the pros and cons of a pre jowl implant with a facelift?
Prejowel Implant with a Facelift
Jun 28, 2018
Prejowel implants can be very beneficial in enhancing the overall result of a facelift in select patients.  We often perform this in patients whose faces are much fuller and have a very deep prejowel sulcus.  The prejowel sulcus is a boney indentation that is in front of the jowel along the jawline.  People with fuller faces usually have much more pronounced prejowel sulci and benefit from a prejowel implant along with a facelift. This should not change the recovery and is placed through th...
One Eye Bigger Than the Other?
Facial Asymmetry
Jun 28, 2018
The vast majority of people have some asymmetry to their faces.  Both ears are different, both eyes are different, and in general one side of the face is different than the other.  This is due to both side f our face developing differently in utero.  It usually stems from the boney structure. Fillers and Botox can often help improve this a bit, but will likely not achieve perfection in this case.
Eyelid Surgery Recovery
Upper Blepharoplasty Recovery
Jun 28, 2018
Upper Blepharoplasty "social" downtime really depends on if you have any bruising.  Most of our patients see little to no bruising if they follow our post-op regimen of icing for 48 hours and supplements that we provide you. Make up can be worn as soon as the sutures are removed a week later.  That being said, the majority of our patients go back to work and social activities a 7-10 days later.  Complete healing can take a few months but that should not limit you at all and is minimally no...

Drinking Before and After Surgery
Jun 28, 2018
If you are a casual/social drinker it is best to stop 10 days before surgery and for 2 weeks after.  This will help minimize bruising and swelling.
Best Skin Aftercare Following Laser Resurfacing?
Skin Care After Laser Skin Resurfacing
Jun 28, 2018
There are three stages to skin care after laser skin resurfacing. It is also important to differentiate between lasers and how the laser is used (depth of treatment).  This will vary depending on your goals, and the physician's experience. Considering that you are referring to a deep skin resurfacing, this is likely  a deeper CO2 or fractional CO2 laser. Every surgeon will have a bit of a different routine and we always recommend following your own surgeons instructions for this.1) I...
Do I need an eyelid lift? Upper blepharoplasty? Eyes are not symmetrical, trying to find a solutio
Eyelid Ptosis
Jun 28, 2018
Ptosis of the eyelid creates the appearance that your left upper eyelid is hanging over the pupil (black part) of your eye.   This may also affect your vision, resteicting peripheral vision on that side.  First, you need a physical examination in person by a oculoplastic surgeon to confirm this.  There are surgical solutions to correct this and this will likely improve your eyelid asymmetry. This is called ptosis repair and is not the same thing as a blepharoplasty (although in some pat...

Facelift wiht Laser Skin Resurfacing
Mar 31, 2017
Facelift and skin resurfacing have separate goals.  A facelift will lift the sagging ligaments and tissues that are responsible for the hanging cheeks, jowls and neck.  Skin resurfacing will treat the sun damaged skin and improve some of the fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes and mouth.  A brow lift treats the sagging brows that you state are too low on your forehead.  It appears. from this limited photo, that you are a candidate to have all of these procedures.
Do I have to remove orbital rim implants before getting facelift?
Facelift surgery and implants
Mar 31, 2017
Orbital rim implants are not commonly performed today. However, it should not be necessary to remove your already in place implants before or during facelift surgery.  If you are happy with the way they appear then you should keep them. I have performed a facelift on a woman with a simialr circumstance and she looks great and is very happy with her results.
I am planning on getting a facelift under general anesthesia and I had an abnormal EKG
Medical Clearance for Facelift Surgery
Mar 31, 2017
With your abnormal EKG we would have you see a Cardiologist in order to obtain a  full workup and medical/cardiology clearance for elective surgery. We perform our facelifts under IV sedation, not general anesthesia, but would still require cardiology clearance for your abnormal EKG.  It is always best to be safe!
Chin strap after facelift and neck surgery.
Chin Strap after Facelift/Necklift
Mar 31, 2017
In my practice we do not recommend a long-term chin strap after facelift surgery.  It is just not necessary with my technique.  However, this can be variable from surgeon to surgeon.  Since you chose your surgeon to perform you surgery, you must be happy with the before and after photos and his work.  I would follow your surgeons protocol as he/she is the one that performed your procedure.
Swelling 2 Weeks and 2 Days After Facelift, When Can I Expect this to go Down?
Bruising After Facelift Surgery
Mar 31, 2017
Bruising and healing can be quite variable from person to person.  We all heal along a bell curve. What this means is that you have some people that never get bruising and some people that can take a month or more for bruising to resolve.  The vast majority of our patients have most of their bruising resolved withing 2-3 weeks after surgery.  It sounds as if you are right within that 2-3 week stage and that the little bit of neck bruising will resolve within the next week.
