Not noticed any difference in my hair after FUE 7 months in.
Growth concerns at 7 months

It would be helpful to know more details to be able to advise you appropriately.

1. How many grafts we transplanted?

2. What was the breakdown of 1, 2 and 3 hair follicular units?

3. Do you have photos of the immediate post operative appearance to demonstrate the distribution of grafts?

4. Did you adhere to the post operative instructions given by the doctor?

5. Are you taking hair loss medication to stabilize your condition?

6. Did you experience any shock loss after the surgery?

Exercise after FUE
Feb 16, 2016
One of the benefits of FUE is the rapid return to normality (without the stitches from an FUT surgery). After a week you can start exercising but I like to avoid swimming for 3 weeks after surgery.

Beard & body hair transplants
Feb 16, 2016
Beard hair can be a useful source of donor hair but is pretty limited in supply and tends to be course in calibre. This means that it can have a harsh appearance and is more commonly used for adding density to the midscalp area. Although most people heal with very subtle dot scars (which are often impossible to find) we usually only extract beard hair from the “shadow area” under the chin where the small dot scarring is unlikely to be visible. If you were to remove your entire beard by FUE…
Donor density?
Donor density
Feb 12, 2016
I’m afraid it is very hard to estimate donor density from your photos. From a global perspective, it looks very good but it is important to assess the calibre (thickness?), characteristics (curly/straight?), follicular grouping size (lots of 1 hair follicular groupings or lots of 2/3/4 hair groupings?), scalp laxity as well as the density (number of follicular unit groupings per square centimetre. With regard to your crown, you look to have retained lots of miniaturised hair in the crown…

Moustache scar hair transplant
Feb 12, 2016
This can be a really gratifying procedure. It is very much possible to transplant hair into the moustache area and also within scars. Scar tissue can present some challenges because of its texture and blood supply and therefore we tend to graft at a slightly lower density to optimise graft survival. This can mean than the chances of repeat procedures to add density may be higher than when transplanting into non-scarred skin. I usually take the donor hair from the “shadow area” under the chin…
Care after hair transplant. Any suggestions?
Care after hair transplant
Feb 11, 2016
Now that you are over a month since surgery your grafts are well healed and safe. A healthy balanced diet is wise but supplements are largely unnecessary. It sounds like you have been on minoxidil & it would be wise to continue this, provided you haven’t been experiencing side effects. You may also be describing some increased shedding following the surgery (shock loss). The minoxidil can cause this in the early stages but once established should help to stabilise things.
Propecia vs Minoxidil for women hair loss?
Minoxidil vs Propecia
Feb 11, 2016
Propecia is not licensed for use in women and most doctors would consider the side effect profile to be excessive in women. Minoxidil is very well established and has a much more acceptable side effect profile. Unfortunately, topical minoxidil can be rather an impractical treatment because patients can find it inconvenient and messy to apply. Its longterm compliance in women is therefore often poor.
