How Long is the Recovery Period for Full Tummy Tuck?
Recovery for a Tummy Tuck
Jul 21, 2021
The recovery for a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is about 6 weeks. To make it easier, I like to break it down into phases when explaining it (although everyone's recovery journey is different). For the first week, you'll most likely be experiencing pain and discomfort. You should have your physician assist you with pain management during this time. Don't expect to be walking upright, most patients aren't able to until the end of week 1-2. Week 2 is a little better but you're still in discomfort...
Advice for Exercise After Breast Augmentation?
Physical Activity Post-Op
Jul 21, 2021
The golden rule of recovery is to take it easy and listen to your body. In most cases, we recommend light walks and limited activity for the first 2 weeks, be careful not to lift objects greater than 10 lbs. If the activity you're doing is causing additional pain or discomfort, simply stop doing it and listen to your body. After about 6 weeks you should be able to resume normal activities but it's recommended to get clearance from your surgeon first.
Can I wear a bikini 1 year after tummy tuck?
Bikini Post Tummy Tuck
Jul 21, 2021
Hello,You should be able to wear a bikini 1 year post-op (wear sunscreen if you're in the sun). The incisions should be well healed and the scar should be matured, meaning that if you'd like to wear a bikini at that time it shouldn't be an issue. Most scars mature around 1 year post-op and assuming that there are no complications you should have a beautiful cosmetic result.
How Long Should You Wear Your Binder/Garment for After a Tummy Tuck?
Binder Post Tummy Tuck
Jul 21, 2021
Hello,It's recommended that you wear your post surgical binder for 4-6 weeks post-op. Wearing the binder helps with recovery, as it acts as a compress, providing additional support to your abdomen which is vulnerable during this crucial stage of recovery. Binders can also assist with minimizing swelling post-op, which provides relief for many.
How Long Does Tummy Tuck Surgery Swelling Last?
Swelling Post Tummy Tuck
Jul 20, 2021
Hello,As we may know, no two bodies are the exact same so swelling may last longer for some, in comparison to their peers. Typically, swelling will last about 3-6 months. Often times, patients will notice swelling has completely gone down by month 6, but some will experience the swelling going down sooner. Scars from the procedure will always be there but after about 1 year the scars should have a beautiful cosmetic appearance.
