Mona Lisa Touch is specifically geared towards the breast cancer patients completing or currently involved in therapy who suffer from genitourinary syndrome of menopause that cannot take vaginal hormonal therapy for symptoms of vaginal dryness. My practice has had amazing results treating those with breast cancer.
Will the Mona Lisa procedure work for me?
Painful intercourse “all my life”

I would assume that you have had a thorough work up with an exam, cultures and possibly biopsies that may rule out other sources of pain such as infection, dysphasia, vulvovaginal dermatoses, vulvodynia, and the like. Your medications suggest a possible neuropathic problem which if true, may affect your genitalia. Then if after a thorough evaluation your diagnosis is genitourinary syndrome of menopause including vulvovaginal atrophy, the procedure may be for you. Especially if you have tried…
I had my first treatment a few weeks ago and had a discharge following the procedure. My doctor said t
Mona Lisa vaginal discharge odor

Yes it is very normal. As a better blood supply and collagen base is being formed vaginally, normal leukorrhea (vaginal secretions) will form. This may be off putting if your vagina hasn’t had leukorrhea for awhile. Some skin sloughing occurs with the laser if which in the non acidified vagina, can become odiferous. Fortunately with collagen remodeling and leukorrhea, the vagina becomes acidified and the odor should resolve on its own.
Am I A Candidate For MonaLisa Touch If I Previously Had Cervical Cancer?

The prohibitive factor in cervical cancer treatment is vaginal radiation. If you have had radiation, then the laser therapy is not recommended. If you have have surgical therapy (LEEP, conization, trachelectomy, hysterectomy) without radiation, you would be a candidate for this wonderful therapy.

Yes, it is a game changer for those women with vaginal atrophy who can’t take vaginal estrogen, cannot afford vaginal estrogen, desire no hormonal therapy, or where hormonal therapy has not helped. After 3 treatments, success rates approach 90-95% in resuming pain free intercourse.

MonaLisa Touch: Are There Any Risks Involved?
Mona Lisa Risks

The beauty of this procedure is that risks are minimal. Certain conditions such as undiagnosed vaginal bleeding / lesions or prior problematic mesh surgery may be relative contraindications to lasering, but there are no significant risks other than mild vaginal irritation during or within 24 hours post therapy. This irritation is more likely due to vaginal atrophy rather than the laser probe itself.
