You may also benefit from filler to achieve your goal of facial symmetry, if fat injection does not appeal to you. By adding volume where needed, you can achieve both symmetry, as well as facial tightening. Yes, it is common. Reduction techniques involve removal of breast tissue down to the margin of the rib cage. Silicone injections can complicate any subsequent surgery, but it depends entirely on where they were made. If the injection was made very deep into the area, just above the bone, then there may be very little interaction with a Facelift incision. If the injection was made in the subcutaneous pane, then it could cause contour irregularity. It is very important that patients disclose exactly what they had done in the past to avoid any surprises in the operating room.

Facelift incisions are hidden in natural creases and in shadows. Incisions are typically under the edge of the sideburn or in the hairline and curling around the ear. Often, the incision in front of the ear is placed inside of the ear, on the back edge of the cartilage to hide it. The incision is typically extended back into the hairline, behind the ear to allow the patients to have their hair pulled back, or in a ponytail so that you cannot see the incision along the scalp line.

You can easily camouflage your scars with makeup at a couple weeks post op as long as you no longer have any open areas.  The incision line scars should heal very well, and should scars fade quickly and are well hid. Check with your certified plastic surgeon with your concerns,

Thank you for your question.  If you have had a Facelift 11 months ago and you have some contour irregularities, some bumps and lumps you should definitely be rechecked.  It is common to have some surface irregularities temporarily but these generally resolve within at least four to six weeks.  Any lump that persists after that period most likely is going to need a small revisionary procedure.  Check back with your board certified plastic surgeon.

Thank you for your question.  It is understandable that you may see some facelifts that over pulled or are over tight skin.  Nevertheless, a modern well done facelift actually involves repositioning the tissue under the surface to a previous position.  Therefore, this means lifting the lateral cheek and tightening the neck in a more oblique direction.  This allows for the tissue under the surface to be back where it was a few years ago and the skin re-drapes very naturally and nit in a tig...
