I always counsel my patients to expect 2-week recovery period. The first week is when the post-operative cast or splint will be in place. It’s during this period that patients should be resting at home with light activity. The second week all cast/splints will be removed and patients with “desk” jobs may return to work. Anyone with a more labor-intensive job such as a waitress which requires a lot of walking and carrying heavy trays should wait an additional week before returning to work….
